Corrective Lenses Eyes Knowledge Base
Contact lenses that will make eyes look light? i have very dark brown (looks like black) eyes. i am looking for corrective contact lenses that will give my eyes a lighter color, like blue or green. but the problem is that i have been told that if i wear too light colored contact lenses, it wouldnt make much difference and will still look dark. i have tried hazel, and although the eyes look lighter on sunlight, indoors, dosent make a difference.
corrective lenses? how do glasses work? what do they do to change the focus point in the eye? what are different glasses like? basically, WHAT DO GLASSES DO??????
How do I improve my eyesight without using corrective lenses or surgery? Hey guys, I'm only 19 years of age and I have really bad eyesight. About 1 year and a half ago, both my eyes were -2.50 each and I have astigmatism on top of that. I'm getting fed up with glasses and I just want to get rid of this nuisance. I also know that eating carrots improving your eye sight is just a myth. Any real way to improve your eyesight ?
Does your vision get worse faster over time if you wear corrective lenses? I heard that wearing glasses makes your eyes get weaker faster over the span of your life. Is this true, or is it the other way around- not wearing glasses hurts your eyes and makes your vision worsen faster?? I only wear my contacts occasionally because my vision isn't that bad, should I keep doing this???
Corrective Eye surgery or contact lenses? I am tired of wearing spectacles so which should I chose? I am scared of surgery in case something goes wrong and I end up blind (but I hear its pretty safe) contacts are cheaper but with surgery you don't have to keep changing them everyday
I believe that people who wear corrective lenses (glasses/spectacles) should get them for free? its discrimination and advatagous that ppl who do not have 20/20 vision (what ever that is) HAVE TO pay sometimes hundreds of dollars to correct their eye site while ppl who do not need corrective lenses can have hundreds of dollars more in their pockets? Isn't it important for ppl to see? wouldn't there be less accidents, mishaps and mistakes if eye care was free? PPL DO YOU AGREE?
Can I get LASIK or other corrective surgery if my vision isn't 20/20 corrected? My vision is 20/40 corrected. I have pretty bad eyes, -8.25 in one eye and -8.00 in the other. Would I be a candidate for LASIK or another type of corrective eye surgery? I was told I would not be a good candidate at one place and another place told me over the phone that I would be even if I could only be corrected to 20/40. The one place that denied me said its because my vision is barely legal for a driver's license and they wouldn't want to mess with it. Also, is there a chance I'd be better than 20/40 after the surgery? I feel like their could be a chance because its not just putting corrective lenses over my eyes, but I don't know enough about all of this. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
I've been having recent problems with my eye sight, does this mean i may possibly need corrective lenses? I have noticed lately that I've been having problems with my eye sight. When I'm driving I can't see the road signs until i'm about five feet in front of them, and I get a massive headache when I am driving. And i can't drive at night anymore, because I can't see hardly anything at night when I'm driving, it seems even harder to drive at night. And If I try to read anything that is beyond arms reach that would be this size font, I can't read it. I get enough sleep at night, in fact alot of times I get more than I would need. I've felt really tired since I have been experiencing this problem. And I've been getting alot more migraines as well. I'm 21, and I have never needed corrective lenses before. and I have never had any eye sight problems before. Does these symptoms mean I may possibly need to see an eye doctor or may even need corrective lenses? Let me rephrase that, SHOULD I go get my eyes checked?
corrective lenses and computer glasses? Hello I am nearsighted and I heard that to improve eye sight (w/o surgery) corrective lenses will be the best..and also wearing computer glasses will be great as well..does all these things cost a lot? thanks 4 ur time =)
What do I do about the corrective lens restriction not being on my license? I just got my license today (Arizona) and in my excitement I didn't think to look on the back side of it to make sure everything there was fine. That's when I realized they didn't put the note that I wear corrective lenses. I wear glasses/contacts everywhere because I can't function without them, but they didn't make that note on the license even though I told them I was wearing contacts when my eyes were tested. So, I'm just wondering what I need to do to fix this.
corrective lenses help?!? okay so i wanna get some corrective lenses but i don't know how to get them. do i get my eyes tested?? and if so what do i do from there? my friends don't know and neither does my family.
What do you think about corrective lenses? Im 14 years old and I am near sighted with about -3.50.. Ive been doing some research on ways to improve my eyesight.. I know about glasses (i don't like them!), i know about normal contact lenses (they dry my eyes out), laser surgery on the eye (im too young to get it) and eye exercises.. But today i found out a new thing its called "Orthokeratology".. its when you wear contact lenses at night and when you sleep and they re-shape your cornea and make you eye sight perfect! I would like to know what you think about it and if anyone has tried it and how long will it take until your eyes are a perfect 20/20???
Where can i get contacts online that arent gonna like melt into my eyes or something? I want to get colored contacts for halloween, preferably the same kind Jaimy Madrox wears, but i don't want them to come from a third world country and i don't want to pay an arm and a leg for them. My dad told me i should go to an eye doctor and get a prescription for non corrective lenses but that is a last resort due to the money issue. so if anyone who knows a reputable dealer that i could buy from online, i would be much obliged.
Private Pilot Checkride, Corrective Lenses? On my second class medical, it says I need corrective lenses. My vision is 20/20 in my left eye and 20/25 in my right eye, so technically I meet the requirements for a third class medical. My checkride is next week and I'd rather not wear my glasses, since they give me a headache anyways. Am I required to wear them even though I am not on a solo flight or exercising any private pilot privileges?
Corrective lenses on Drivers Permit? I went to get my permit today, and when i finally got my vision test, he asked me if i wore corrective lenses, so i replied no. I then took the vision test, and only had i think a slight jumble on one of the numbers on the left side, where i think i mixed a 5 with a 6 (the left numbers were a little harder to see than the right and middle, too) . I got the permit and it says restr: B, and on the back it says that it means corrective lenses. Do I need to go to an eye doctor to get glasses for driving? Or could it have been an accident?
Does someone with 20/30-20/40 eyesight need corrective lenses? My doctor did an eye test during a routine physical and I couldnt see as well as I used to. I struggled through the line that signifies 20/30 vision and could see the 20/40 line very well. Do I need corrective lenses? I know I need to see an opthamologist but I am just wondering if 20/40 eyesight requires corrective lenses.
non-corrective contact lenses? I can see perfectly had no history of eye problems at all, and I was just wondering for halloween if non-corrective lenses would be ok for me to use or should I see an eye specialist first?
Why is it that eyesight never gets better? What I mean is, when you have an eyesight problem, the doc gives you a prescription for corrective lenses. And your eyes never get better. If A doc gives you a prescription for when you are sick, and (hopefully) the prescription makes you better, but the eyes always seem to go downhill, even if you are a constant contact lens wearer. Why is this? what if it's a child? or a teenager?, My daughter is only 9, and she first got glasses last year, now this year she needed a stronger prescription?
Corrective Lenses/Corrective Power, Why is this not working for me??? In dire need of help.-Physics? A pharmacy student has eyes who have a relaxed refractive power of 49 diopters and her retina is 2.4 cm from her lens. She is nearsighted and her far point is .136M Let's say she wants to be able to focus clearly on objects that are from 150 m to 6 cm away. What is the power of the corrective lens she should wear assuming her glasses are 2 cm from her eye? I did 41.66-49/(1.98x)=-3.7 , but it says its wrong, i've tried the positive too. Pls help. Thank you.
Do corrective lenses damage your vision, and can vision be naturally improved? I'm 13 and recently failed a school vision test with 20/40 in my right eye and 20/32 in my left. A year ago I was prescribed contacts but I never wore them, and I remember the optician saying that if you didn't wear your contacts/glasses your eyesight would worsen. I've also heard on the internet that corrective lenses only temporarily correct your eyesight but worsen it overall in the long run. I wouldn't want this to happen, since eyesight changes a lot in the teenage years. My other question is if it's possible for one's vision to be naturally improved. I've heard something about eye exercises, but I wouldn't know if it was a scam to get people to buy whatever products. Are there any other ways, if possible, to improve your eyesight permanently? A lot of Vitamin A, maybe, and more rest? ~thank you.
corrective lenses that can give back 20/20 vision? not much of an advocate for laser eye treatment (too risky for my tastes), but how else could I obtain 20/20 vision once more (I have myopia (nearsightedness) now- got that by reading in the dark...)- I heard about corrective lenses that can give back 20/20 vision, though I thought that was only for presbyopia Just wonderin' now if theres a similar treatment for myopia, and if not, are there any other ways one can cure myopia? sorry for being vague previously, I was asking if there was a way one who has developed myopia could achieve 20/20 vision without glasses or contacts or laser eye surgery... I guess you are right about reading in the dark forming myopia, but to a certain extent (as far as I read, eyestrain is the leading cause for myopia, and reading in dark places does force one to strain their eyes a lot... then again I may be wrong...)- I was reading about the Bates method on improving vision, just wanted to know how effective it is, and are there other effective ways on curing myopia?
Would you think I needed glasses/corrective lenses? I had a regular eye exam for a physical. I found out that I have 20/40 in one eye and 20/70ish in the other. I was wondering would this require glasses/corrective lenses (whichever you choose to call them)? I know by law to drive you have to have 20/40 in both, so I am just wondering. Any input would be appreciated. Yeah, thats the thing, I can read fine and drive fine. The only thing that gets me is the eyestrain every now and then, and the physical I took was a DOT thing, and they told me to pass I would need 20/40 in both eyes. I have never been one for glasses or contacts and was hoping I would need neither haha.
Anne is farsighted; the nearest object she can see clearly without corrective lenses is 2.4 m away.? Anne is farsighted; the nearest object she can see clearly without corrective lenses is 2.4 m away. It is 1.8 cm from the lens of her eye to the retina. (a) Sketch a ray diagram to show (qualitatively) what happens when she tries to look at something closer than 2.4 m without corrective lenses. (b) What should the focal length of her contact lenses be so that she can see clearly objects as close as 18.0 cm from her eye? ________ cm
Is it possible to wear cosmetic contact lenses over corrective ones? I am shortsighted and have to wear contact lenses all day, otherwise I trip over my own feet. There are plenty of great cosmetic lenses that change your eye color but, sadly, the coolest looking only come in 0-diopter variety. Those that are both cosmetic and corrective are usually rather boring (standard human colors) and/or abysmally expensive. So my title question - is it possible to wear cosmetic contact lenses over corrective ones? Has anyone tried it? (I know I could wear cosmetic lenses and glasses, but the thing is, I hate glasses. The day when I could finally afford to buy contacts and throw the glasses away was one of the happiest in my life).
Does it take a long time to get your eye gear in the field if you need corrective prescription lenses? I heard troops over there in Iraq and shizzle get free ballistic sunglasses handed out to them to use in their missions and whatnots, I guess Oakleys or Wiley X sunglasses. That's fine and well, but what about the guys that need to have prescription lenses and don't see 20/20? Do they still get those sunglasses or do they have to buy their own? And if they do get them, does it take longer, since they'll need to be special ordered and fitted with the prescription lenses? And what does ballistic mean anyway? I don't think it will stop bullets.
Poor distance vision from perfectly healthy eyes? I'm 25 and have slowly been losing my distance vision for about 10 years. I've been to 13 ophthalmologists and still have no diagnosis, and every test imaginable has shown that both of my eyes are perfect in every aspect. Machines read no prescription and corrective lenses have no effect. Could it be in my brain? Only thing I haven't seen is a neuro-ophthalmologist, but they are extremely hard to find and charge a fortune. What should I do?
Why is everything magnified when i wear contacts? im currently wearing corrective hard contacts only at night, which enables me to see clearly in the day without contacts or glasses, but why when i wear the corrective lenses everything appears bigger? like my eyes and my face appears bigger.
How can I fix my vision without LASIK eye surgery, contacts or glasses? Within the past 6 months my vision has gone from 20/20 in boths eyes to 20/70 in the right eye and 20/110 in the left eye. I visited the optometrist and they told me i should get glasses. I was wondering if I can avoid surgery and corrective lenses by eating certain foods or doing certain eye exercises. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is it possible to get 20/10 vision or better with corrective lenses? Eye doctors prescribe glasses that get your vision to 20/20, but is it possible to get corrective lenses that will get your vision to 20/10 or better? Please explain why this is or isn't possible. People! 20/20 is "normal" vision! 20/10 means you can read the bottom most line on the eye chart.
Do corrective lens make your vision worst? My eyes are getting very blurry. I find myself frequently squinting for better sight of something. I don't like using any corrective lens (glasses, contacts) but I feel like I have to. I heard that when you wear glasses or contacts, your eyes get worst. Does anyone know if this is true?
Strengthening eyesight with lenses? Your thoughts? I've always wondered: If you can wear a glasses prescription you don't need, and your eyes grow so accustomed to it that they begin to need that prescription, then would it be possible to start a corrective lens program? For example: You go to the eye doctor, find your prescription, and then get a prescription that's just slightly off so it forces your eyes to strengthen and get progressively better with each pair of new contacts that's just slightly different from your real prescription. Does this sound logical to anyone else?
how do athletes wear contacts, glasses or any kind of corrective lens while playing? i know that not all athletes are 20/20 vision. at least some of them got to wear some kind of corrective lens whether it is contacts or glasses, most likely contacts because it would be hard to play wearing glasses. lets take basktball for example, when players get poked in the eye accidentally, i never see them pick up the contact from the ground , go to the locker room to fix it. so i wonder if it is a requirement for athletes to get a eye laser surgery before they start playing?
Can you wear corrective contact lenses in boxing? My aunt phoned my grandma the other day to ask her if she would be able to give money towards her great grandson's lasik eye surgery. My aunt said that he needed it done otherwise he would not be allowed to enter into boxing. I found it really strange that this was a stipulation since one of my good friends is in boxing and he wears glasses. It is also suspicious that he is eligible to have the eye surgery done since he is only 14 years old. My grandma is a little leery about the situation and is unsure whether or not the surgery is a necessity. Are there some boxing agencies that will not allow you to join their boxing club if you have to wear glasses or contact lenses?
Is it possible that I will not need to wear glasses anymore? When I was 2, I was diagnosed with lazy eye. I immediately began wearing corrective lenses and patches. I stopped using patches when I was about 7 or 8, but continued to wear the corrective lenses. I am now 16 and I can see almost perfectly without my glasses. Is it possible that I might not need to wear glasses anymore?
What kind of surgery can I get for my eyes? I wear a -6.5 in contacts - that's really bad. So I'm going to get corrective surgery at some point in the next couple of years. But I want to know - can I get lasik laser vision correction or do I have to get contact lens implants? If I have to get the implants, can you tell me something about them? I don't have astigmatism but I do have a couple of scars on my eyes.
How to reverse nearsightedness? I've noticed my eyes weren't at their peak so a year ago I went to the optometrist who said one of my eyes was a bit nearsighted but not needing corrective lenses. I can still see fairly well, but not as sharply long distance wise...so how can I prevent my eyes from getting worse & needing glasses or contacts?
corrective lens!!helllppp? im having trouble calculating the focal length useing the thin lens equation eg. a person is long sighted and can produce clear images on the retina for objects whose distance from teh eye ranges from infinity to 60cm i.e near point is 60cm. calculate the focal length of the corrective lense which is needed to produce a clear image on the retina of this object 40cm away. the corrective lense is 2cm from teh eye the asnwer is 1.2m can someone explain how they get that!! equation: 1/f = 1/p + 1/q
How do glasses correct visual problems? A)By intercepting and bending incoming light waves so that they are focused properly on the retina. B)By amplifying the frequencies of incoming light waves, which magnifies and enlarges the image that falls on the retina. C)Looking through the corrective lenses exercises the muscles of the eye, aligning the eye structures properly. D)The corrective lenses diffuse the incoming light, which causes the pupil to widen and let in more light waves, enhancing visual acuity.
Is it safe to wear colored lenses on top of contacts? I just got some advice from a friend who's doing this. I've always wanted to try a different eye color, but I wear contacts. Colored corrective contacts are out of the question. So I was wondering if it's really safe to wear colored lenses on top of prescription lenses.
Are there eyeglasses that counteract glare from computer screens? Are there any glasses available that offer this feature? I want a pair of glasses to wear that will shield my eyes. I understand that glare ruins our rods and cones. I do not need corrective lenses, for I have good eyesight. Are there any glasses available like this?
bad sight makes my eyes smaller. solutions ? ever since i was little i suffered from astigmatism in both eyes, as well as being both far and near sighted respectively in the left and right eyes. Over the course of years, I was not given glasses, and I developed squiting. Now when im relaxed, my eyes are naturally in squiting position, and even in cases, it gives people the impression that I am intimidating them! Also, the eyes have gradually gotten smaller in size due to the worsening astigmatism, i have to close my eye lids more and more to reduce double edge line effect. LASIK is probably not doable. I've heard of corrective lenses, how do these work ? do they restore my eyes ?
How good does your vision have to be to get a drivers license? My vision is good. It's like 20/20 in one eye. The other eye can see really good except I can't read small print from far away with that eye. How good does your vision need to be so you don't have to have "needs corrective lenses" on your license?
How much will my first optometrist appointment cost? I will be visiting an optometrist for the first time in about 2 weeks (in Connecticut). It will be my first appointment with this doctor and my first eye exam in general. I would also like to be fitted for contacts if the doctor decides corrective lenses will help. Can anyone give me an estimate on the cost of this appointment? (My insurance doesn't have a copay, it works on percentage -- I pay 20%)
Police Disability Discrimination (Bad Eye Vs Overweight Cop?)? I've always been curious about this. I happen to have bad vision in one eye. Even with corrective lenses this eye doesn't meet the minimums for a CDL or to become a cop. Isn't this a form of discrimination, or some kind of selective discrimination? I mean, I see plenty of overweight or out of shape cops, short cops, etc. Who's to say that their "disability" isn't any worse than mine for that job? Don't say "it's because you can't shoot" because I hunt and can shoot with the best of them. I also don't have trouble parking cars or judging distances. Your mind compensates for that in other ways (paying attention to shadows or moving your head around a little to judge depth, etc.). I just think it's discrimination. What do you think?
At what age does nearsightedness usually stop increasing? I have been wearing glasses for 4 years and every year I have had to go for an eye exam to increase the strength of my prescription. I am 24 and my prescription is now -4.00 and I sense its time for stronger lenses soon. My first prescription was -1.75, a second prescription was -2.50, then -3.25 and now -4.00. I am fine with wearing glasses, its just my concern about my loss of clear vision and total dependency on corrective lenses. It seems surreal that at 18 I could see fine and now I need to have fairly strong glasses on to see across the room. Has anyone else had this happen to them and when do the changes usually stop? I mean when does nearsighedness usually stop getting worse
What are the best color contact lenses for me? --I have medium-brown eyes (as in not very light and not very dark). --I already wear contacts. --My eyes are fairly sensitive. They sometimes feel dry while wearing my regular contacts. Any color or brand suggestions? I'm looking for something natural that only my friends will easily notice as false, as well as something corrective and something comfortable. Extra points if you can find photos of before and after pictures of someone with brown eyes AND proof of what the brand is in the photo! Thanks!
