What is the law in NC that mandates a contact lens fitting each year?
I recently had an eye exam, I have been wearing contact lenses since 1999. My new provider insists that I have a contact lens fitting before I can order new contact lenses. What law in NC mandates this lens fitting?

- Most states, it's not a law. It's a requirement of a prudent medical practice to make sure they are not harming your eyes with a bad fit or perscription. "My new provider insists"..... pretty much is the end of story
- You can't be sure when it comes to North Carolina. The former Speaker of the House (Jim Black, Democrat- Matthews), currently serving time in prison, was an Optometrist. He's the guy who got the law passed requiring all kids to have a full dilated eye exam before being allowed into Kindergarten. In return he got $5,000 checks from eye doctors all over the state with blank "pay to" lines. (He just filled in the names and passed them out to his friends).
- I don't know about about NC laws, but it sounds like your "new provider" just wants to make sure you are getting the right contact lenses. They are most likely acting in your best interest.
