Dailies Contact Lenses

Are there any requirements for getting contact lens?

I'm 12 and have had glasses for about a year now. Are there any requirements for getting contact lens? Does it depend on anything? Also on color contacts, is it the same?

  1. No, if you need contacts you can talk to your parents and/or guardian, or your doctor. Since you have had them for about a year, I'm guessing they provide the right prescription. With color contacts, there is no difference. The color is just for appearance and look, nothing to do with the prescription. I wish I could get glasses! I don't have any vision problems, but why do you need contacts! Glasses are so vintage and grunge, and I think their pretty cute on twelve year old boys. - Kaitlyn 14
  2. I don'tt think there are any requirements its probably best that you don't have dry eyes because contacts are known to make your eyes dry.
  3. There are no requirements, just that you need to be able to "poke" your eye - that takes some practice, but will become easier. Just see your eye doctor and you can get a trial pair. There are, by the way, two types of contact lens: "hard" ones and "soft" ones. As a beginner, you will want the soft ones, because they are easier to adjust to, and if you are very active/prone to losing things, the soft ones are monthly. The hard ones can last you years, and even stops your persciption from getting weaker, but you should consider them a little later. As for color contacts, you would want to get them in the hard variety at the eye doctor. A friend of mine bought some for $40, and they were terribly uncomfortable (even for me, who has worn contacts for six years) and way too big, plus they were to be thrown away in a month. I would not recommend them. Hope this is helpful.
  4. If you want contact lenses, you need to get a contact lens prescription from your eye doctor. They are different from glasses prescriptions. Part of the contact lens prescription is that your doctor will recommend a brand that is right for you. If you want color contact lenses. you need to tell your doctor so they can recommend a color contact. because contact lenses are considered medical devices, in many countries, you cant just go and buy whatever you feel like. Also, be aware that putting on and taking off contact lenses is very difficult at first. expect to poke your eyes alot! :)
