Daily Disposable Contact Lenses Questions?

Hey, I usually wear my contact lenses on a night out with the lads. I usually put them in at like 5pm and go out drinking but god knows where I'll end up. I have not done so yet but I was just wondering if it's ok to fall asleep with your lenses in as I'll probably end up forgeting to take them out. Thanks. p.s I'm going on holiday to Ibiza soon for a week and I despertly need my lenses over there but since there daily and shipped to myhome in the UK how can i get them over to Ibiza? Should I just not go a few days wearing them so I can collect them all and bring them on holiday with me. Also, are daily disposables more comfortable than monthly ones? Thanks. So you kept your contacts in for 2 weeks without taking them out :S jees.

  1. It probably won't bother you much. They might be a little dry, but if you have eyedrops that can help. My contacts are disposable and I'm able to keep them in as long as two weeks at a time. I don't unless I need to just because it makes them itchy and dry in the morning, I don't carry my eyedrops around xD As for your daily/monthly issue, I didn't even know they made daily ones. Mine are "every two weeks", but since I don't sleep in them I can keep them in for a month or two and they're still good.
  2. This can be very dangerous i've wore contacts for over 13 years and I use to sleep in my daily contacts. I developed a serious eye infection and had to be rushed to the ER. No joke it was horrifying and very painful. The doctor said I had too much protein build up from my contacts. And I only slept in them a couple of times. So please be very careful. If your gonna be gone for awhile try the disposable ones or wear your glasses for a while. Good Luck and be Safe.
  3. If you just do it every once in awhile, it probably won't cause any problems other than a dry eye and dried out contact the next day. It's possible even one night could cause an infection or damage. If you make a habit of it, you will damage your eyes. Your eyes need oxygen from the air, and contacts restrict your eyes' ability to breathe. If you overwear contacts, you are depriving your eyes of oxygen and new blood vessels will grow into your cornea (the clear front part of your eye). They can disrupt your vision or hemorrhage. There are lenses that are approved for sleeping in (although it is still healthier to remove them at night). I suggest you talk to your eye doctor about it and let him/her know you are looking for lenses that you can sleep in. You may be able to get a trial pair before you leave and it will be much healthier for your eyes.
