  1. They are more likely to grow bacteria, so yes it can be harmful. They start to degrade, making it easier for bacteria to grow on them. Also they can start getting floppier and lose their shape. You can often wear disposables for longer than the directions state. But it's hard to say exactly how long. The directions give you the amount of time that is definitely safe.
  2. It is, yes. The surface of the lense becomes scratched and begins to deteriorate with wear and tear. Invisible to look at but they can be putting unnecessary pressure on your eyes, your eyes can become damaged and irritated by this. Also, as the surface of the lense deteriorates, its ability to allow correct oxygen flow to your eyes will also decrease, therefore a lack of oxygen getting to your eyes and this can be very dangerous.
  3. ANY TYPE I repeat, ANY TYPE of foreign BODY that is in contact with human bodily fluids can transfer infection if any bacteria present on that BODY is allowed to build up over time, this is why a recommended safe period of disposal and renewal is stated by the supplier. This warning is also to be taken on board by the female reader who may use Tampons. DON'T DELAY RENEWAL, IT CAN BE VERY UNSAFE.
  4. I wear my disposables until they cause me to want to throw them away. It never made sense to me that they would just be useless after a month, especially if they were still functioning. I have been doing this for years with no ill effects, but I do disinfect them everynight. I treat them like regular contacts, but I get to throw them out when they get uncomfortable. A six month supply usually lasts me the year.
  5. You shouldn't wear disposable contact lens after 1 month because bacteria will accumulate on the surface of the lens. You may get fungal eye infections and other complications. Don't take the risk!
