cost of laser eye surgery....?
i'm really short sighted and thinking of having laser eye surgery, i think my prescription is something like -9.0d. What would the cost of laser surgery be for this prescription?

- The cost does not go on your prescription, it goes on the type of surgery you get. The highest prescription they cover is -10.00, so you may just be able to have it done. The best thing to do is get a free consultation done, to see which surgery they suggest for your eyes. They range from £395 per eye up to £1900 per eye.
- every insurance plan is different as to how much they will pay and if they even cover lasik.as far as the cost every doctor is different as well but I would really stay away from those that offer the procedure for 400/eye they usually aren't very well prepped in lasik.Look around for a reputable doctor that has references and has done allot of procedures.I just had it done and I am very glad I did.its just so liberating to not have to wear glasses.Good luck to you.
- Depends on where you are - in the UK, the high street conveyer belts (Optical Express / Optimax / Ultra Lase) advertise from £395 per eye, which is of course complete crap - bait and switch adertising at it's best. Realistically, you are looking at around the £1250 - £1450 per eye for LASIK Wavefront treatment. You do have to be suitable for treatment in the first place, and with a -9 correction, you need to have a fairly thick cornea. Don't waste your time with the high street clinics, they will 'um and ah' about the size of treatment and how much tissue their lasers remove etc. The smaller private clinics do not always charge massive amounts, many of them are cheaper than the High Street providers. Have a look at www.lasik-eyes.co.uk This should give you a good idea of typical prices associated with your treatment as well as who actually performs treatment on this prescription on a regular basis. Hope this helps a little
- go for a free consultation, they'll tell you everything you need to know. but i guess around £2500 total for both eyes
