travelling on a student visa?

My boyfriend currently has a UK student visa which expired a couple of years ago. The Home office are aware of this and he has to sign in at a police station daily. His sister in Egypt is currently dying with liver cancer, will he be able to travel and go and see her? would they make a special temporary admission for him to go? He is of Nigerian nationality. I have written to my local MP and we have also have a copy of his sister's medical report
