Spiritually Speaking, is the 'real world' not a human's natural habitat?

When I was young, people used to say to me "Wake up and live in the Real World'. Yet, it seems that most people have heard that phrase at some point in their lives. We tend to daydream about a different reality, than the one we are physically living in. Humans tend to 'escape' reality on a daily basis, through various mediums (books, movies, music etc). Why do humans have the tendancy to want to escape their reality, their natural habitat?

  1. I think we all came from here just human think more then other creature of this earth maybe t that what make us different from all the other animal on earth
  2. Many are bored with seeing and experiencing the same natural habitat that is reality. Reality is not magical, not enduring (strictly speaking, for most folks anyways) but movies and especially books gives humans the chance to experience a different sort of world, which can be very magical, very poignant, which can make you happy, make you cry etc. and the experience is refreshing. Edit: Remember ''love''? In movies and books, love is very magical, but in reality its mostly one boy with tons of girlfriend, all those sexual stuffs, relationship breakdown etc. which is not the least magical. Marriage is also a killer to many. In books and movies, the story ends with the two marrying, know why?
  3. well since the discovery of String theory this proves the reality we live in is only an illusion since nothing holds atoms together they are in a cosmic void also there is a point 10*55th were matter no longer exists which again proves in the nonexistence of reality.
  4. People escape through movies, books, etc. for entertainment. Same reason we post and read posts on R&S. Thank you Chris for recognizing the BLACKS is not a religion. Now, we will try to whittle that list down a little more so we can all be more tolerant of those who are not like us.
  5. in every persons mind they are in a different reality from the next person. look at the person who is insane, that's his reality. this sounds like the philosophy section
  6. Our Basis for Hope in Its Restoration PARADISE, the original perfect garden home of mankind, is no myth, no fairy tale. It is unlike the theory of evolution, which was taught in ancient Babylon, later taught by pagan Greek philosophers of the fifth and fourth centuries before Christ and recently revived in these last few centuries. 2 Paradise, where all was beautiful, peaceful, happy, healthful and life-sustaining, was a real parklike residence that was early lost to mankind. For almost six thousand years now mankind has been trying to exist outside and away from that garden home of pleasure and delight. The effects of this are seen in both the condition of the earth and the condition of mankind today. As the world situation of our generation worsens and becomes more threatening, one thing becomes plainer, becomes more certain: If the human family is to survive, Paradise needs to be restored early to this earth. Nothing could be better or more desirable for all mankind. 3 It seems almost too good to be true—that Paradise in all its grandeur will be restored, yes, be made earth wide, and that a numberless crowd of right-hearted persons today living will still be here on earth when this marvelous restoration begins. Why, that would mean entering into an opportunity to live forever on a paradise earth in complete peace, health and happiness! But this hope was held out to us by no one less than Jesus Christ, the Founder of Christianity, not of Christendom. Paradise is no more a myth or legend than He is. The proof of history is overwhelming that he was on earth as a perfect man nineteen centuries ago. Eyewitnesses and personal companions of His have left us written testimony of what he said and did—his blameless life, his unjust, violent death and his miraculous resurrection from the dead.
  7. You forgot to mention Religion which is the utmost reality escape ever thought of by humans.
  8. I think it depends on what angle you look at it. Anthropology teaches that what makes humans unique is that we did not evolve biologically be evolved Culturally. [Aside that'll guarantee the Thumbs Downers]. Developed clothing in colder climates - etc. So instead of looking at our "natural habitat" - being Hunter & Gatherer Communities on the Savana - we altered our approach to fit the environment. THEN started to alter the environment to suit our needs. As I said depends on what angle you wish to look at ti. .
  9. I heard that too growing up! I was always being accused of 'daydreaming'! And I did so need to escape my childhood! We didn't go to movies then and I surely didn't have reading skills, or music. So I would get lost outside all day, when I could sneak away, all by myself! I would go rock hunting all day long! I didn't dare come ome till sundown! Can't do that these days neither. I know why I did then, but now I just want to be with the Lord. I had a NDE experience and I guess I just can't wait to go home. That was some twenty years ago! I know I still got my job to do here and the good Lord will call me when my job is done! This is the real world, but the spiritual one is where the heart is!
  10. I agree 100% with Arioch. I could not have answered it any better.
  11. Real world is a habittion for human soul.
  12. I look at it as the curse/blessing of sentience. Once we learned to start questiong why, or how, or who, we've not been able to stop. There are even some benefits to it. Escaping "reality" for a time is a way of relieving stress. This tends to lead to better mental and physical health, as long as the person doesn't go overboard. As to why the tendency, once you have the ability to do something, it's natural enough to practice that ability. And by doing so, we've learned to some degree to escape our "natural habitat" and alter it to match our dream world.
  13. there are so many troubles in this world that the one above gives us the knowledge of daydreaming
