What's the city fuel mileage for a 99-02 diesel truck?
99-02 diesel supercab 4x4 3/4 or 1 ton single or dual rear wheels---any brand. Not looking for a "my truck is better than yours" answer. I'm in the market to buy one and would like to know real world fuel milage for these trucks. I'll be driving less than 20 miles round trip to work daily...need city mileage not highway mileage. Please be honest, thank you.

- The V-8`s seem to use more than the 6 cylinder one thats made.. My boss has the 6 cylinder one with 5 speed and he reports 25 IN TOWN-EMPTY. Since the "6 cylinder" model is a low revving torque monster, he can get into 3rd gear by the time he gets to the other side of the intersection. Lots of torque made and less fuel needed to get moving. He has the extended cab Dually, he also uses it to tow his 5th wheel camper Also the V-8`s seem to have funny temperamental computer problems and do not last as long as that 6 cylinder model. The v-8`s also seem to rev more, but lack in torque... The V-8 models are made by their respective companies for their trucks, but however the 6 cylinder one is made by a company that specializes in Diesel engine and puts them in busses and commercial trucks and farm equipment.
- Cummins will get the better mileage.
