Do you get your blood pressure taken for laser eye surgery?

Im getting laser eye surgery tomorrow and I have a phobia about getting my blood pressure taken. Will I need to get it taken on my arm before? I hope not.

  1. Yes, most of the time they put an electronic blood pressure cuff on you for the entire procedure. It is very important that they do. An increased blood pressure can cause eye damage and cause problems with the surgery or healing.
  2. When I had my laser eye surgery last year, they didn't take my blood pressure at all. They did other tests on my eyes to make sure I was a good candidate a few weeks before the surgery but never took my blood pressure then or on the day of the surgery.
