Will military insurance/tricare cover daily disposable contacts?
I'm a dependent, so I figured they wouldn't cover lasik or PKR for me, so I was wondering if they would cover daily disposable contacts, which I've been using for years, or would they cover contacts at all? Trying to save money without having to use glasses everyday, thanks! I'd be willing to pay for my own contacts, I just wanted to know if they would cover any of the cost. No reason to be rude. I'm the same way, I hope my son doesn't my bad vision, but it doesn't really seem to run in my family so maybe I just got the bad straw. I can't really wear glasses during the day because when I carry my son around, he tears the glasses of my face and throws them on the floor, not fun!

- Sounds to me you are more vain than frugal.
- No. They do not pay for contacts. They really should-my vision is so horrible, the glasses prescription I get is a joke. I only wear them at night or if my eyes really bother me. I can't drive in them safely. I've been wearing contacts since I was 12. I still get pretty good contacts for about $25 a box. Also, wanting lasik eye surgery isn't vain. :( If I could change one thing in my life it would be my eyesight. Glasses and contacts can't really be considered a hassle but it's not something I enjoy. I hate that I may pass my horrible vision onto my kids. I honestly can't see a damn thing without my glasses/contacts. I hate it so much, I've had dreams where I could see clearly without them. Heh. Tell me about it. My 2 year old screams 'MOMMY TAKE OFF YOUR GLASSES!!!' until I take them off. She hates when I wear them for some reason, although she likes to wear them herself.. she fusses the whole time she has them on (the entire 5 minutes) because she doesn't understand why she can't see. It's hilarious.
- No, Tricare doesn't pay for contacts. They also don't pay for the exam related to getting contacts.
- You are covered for 1 vision test for glasses every 2 years (unless every year is necessary). They will not cover the cost of the contact fitting exam, the cost of glasses or the cost of contacts. The only time you could get a contact lenses prescription is if you see the Optometrist or Opthamologist at the base Hospital/clinic.
- No they will not pay for contact lenses or even glasses. They will pay for your yearly eye exam but not the contact lens fitting.
- no. only one GLASSES exam every 2 years, contacts and contact exams are not covered. hell glasses aren't even covered unless you are AD and choose from their lovely array of freebie frames....
