Which country is more racist towards Blacks: U.S.A versus Canada?

I actually thought that, being a Canadian citizen, i knew the answer to this--I thought the U.S., with it's brutal history, socially Conservative South, Identity politics, & blatant expression of xenophobia was, bar-none, the most racist country in the world That idea has recently been challenged by a Nigerian, a older friend of mine, who also lives in Canada. We argued for several hours over which country is more racist, and he was PISSED that i thought it was the U.S.. "Canada is the most RACIST country on earth", he almost shouted at me, "The ONLY difference between Canada & the U.S. is that Canada's racism is subtle & systematic, whereas the U.S.'s is blatant--Obama could NEVER have won an election in Canada" He told me of these racial incidents: -During a school play, everyone clapped for the children that went on stage, but when his child [Black] got on stage, the applause immediately stopped -Cops have repeatedly singled him out for several tickets, almost daily, despite the fact that [he claims] he was not speeding -He has had cops trash his house, desecrate his family belongings, and write "We hate n@GERS" on some of his stuff -In British Columbia a few days a go, a Black teen was targeted for several White adolescents in pick-up trucks who hurled racial slurs at him, and proceeded to attempt to beat him up. The video is posted on You Tube -A month or so ago a woman drew a swastika on her daugters face, & sent her to school http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gKIW8RClyU I stated that what happened to him was bad, but that sort of thing happens like every week in the U.S. [i told him] Brent: I am a Black Canadian you tool Brent: You are a complete moron, and i doubt you are even Black. Half of solving a problem is acknowledging that it is there, and i am acknowledging that there is racism in both countries, racism that cannot be fixed unless it is spot lighted. Either way, your opinion means absolutely nothing to me, if you want don't answer my questions, matter of fact i'll help you in that department & block you. 1. Where in Canada does he live? I live in Southern Ontario, and I love black people! I saw the BC incident that's f9cking sad, knowing that there are racist a99holes like that. Cops trashed his house? WTF. I think he should move out of the city that he is living and move into a diverse city like Toronto or something. If hes living in Alberta or something tell him to get the f9ck outta there cause those are pure rednecks and hells angels. Coming from a Canadian, I think the states are more racist but that's just my opinion. In Canada, you do realize that people are equally racist towards blacks and south Asians right? I'm not pointing any fingers but we know who the racist ones are, the ones who think they own this land *cough cough* Why the hell do I have a hard time believing that, obviously that would have been on the news now or something. I meant Whites, cause I said they THINK they own this country.
2. i say us....not just blacks. everyone.....white americans hate absolutely everybody who is different. how many times have you heard someone say they came to the US and they were shocked at the racism....for such a "progressive" country, our race relations are stuck back in the 1700s... what can i say about it happening in other countries? well racism happens everywhere and to anybody...you do know about the white genocide in africa right? see, i really though as "modern humans", we'd be further along than this.....on our way to building a utopian society by now....i guess that's still a thousand years in the making....i swear, racism is going to be what destroys us...and i'm not being dramatic there..

4. I don't know about Canadian attitudes to Blacks, but there appears to be an overt prejudice against Newfoundlanders there which could match any negative stereotype in the world.
5. all those things you said your friend experienced, many blacks have also in USA i know people personally that have experienced all of those it doesn't matter which country is most racist, whites are whites, and anywhere you go, if the place is majority white, i'm sure they will be racist... or if the place is controlled by whites(even if majority isn't white)

8. Canadians do not like anyone BUT Canadians - including ANYONE "American". How many OTHER countries have such elaborate check points and rules for entering their Country..... America sure as heck does not.

That's pretty much going to be anywhere you go as a black person, where there aren't a substantial number of blacks in the area. i've fared extremely well in Germany, but i think that's only because my language skills are over the top- the vast majority of people i encounter are so impressed with my German (as an American) skills that any negative feelings they may have been harboring turn into curiosity- they don't expect Americans to speak their language, and so it makes a really good impression. So, yeah- at any rate, i wouldn't expect Canada to be any different than the U.S. I'd like to live there, but not because i think it's a liberal place void of racism- i simply think some parts are very beautiful and cold, and that's the kind of climate i prefer. Bring on the racists- i can handle all of them!
10. I live in a diverse state (California, to be exact) and I'm happy that everyone here gets along well. I saw the video, and it's kind of sad, really. I feel bad for your friend, hope it doesn't happen again. I'm not sure which Country is more racist because if I decide to choose one, then that means that I'm generalizing. White supremacists are the most racist ones and they're spread out all over the world, which is kind of bad. Your friend should move somewhere else before it gets worse. Try going to a diverse city because I think that it's better there. Everyone gets along real fine.
11. I am utterly amazed at how there can be so much hate in this world. I think that people who are racist are the lowest form of living being . My advice to this person would be to move , but I don't think that he should have to. I would get my local politician involved for sure . As far as what Country is worse, does it really matter ? There are idiots like this all over the world. And it's not just about skin colour , Women , Religion and people with all sorts of differances are targeted ( physical and mentally ) People need to really take a hard look in the mirror before they judge others. It's really a shameful way to act especially when kids are watching.
