Daily disposable contacts?
Do you think their my best bet? Instead of monthly ones? I'm turning 13 soon. The disposable contacts costs 1$ a day, so $365 a year or less, because i'm not going to wear them everyday. Are the monthly ones more comfortable than the daily ones? Each day I would wear the contacts about 15 hours.. do you think the disposable ones would last that long? I'm going to a fitting now.. to try on the contacts any tips? It's actually $1 dollar a day. I visited the place I'm going to.

- They are good from a convenience and cleanliness standpoint. The problem is that they are made to be cheap - although they're not especially as you buy lots of them - so they aren't as good as monthly lenses. The advantage is that you have a new pair every day so it doesn't matter too much. The Johnson and Johnson Acuvue 1-day is the best of them - better quality control basically - and the new Acuvue Tru-Eye is the best of the Acuvue ones - it's a modern high oxygen material so comfortable and good for your eyes. The regular 1 day lenses often get a bit dry by 12 hours or so.
- my doc told me monthly ones are probably the most reasonable decision. 1. you dont have to wear them everyday 2.no matter how much or how little you wear them, you MUST throw them in exactly a month. & your getting a rip off for $1 a day contacts. thats not smart. what i suggest is 1. get your prescription & get a fitting. (be sure to remember/record these) 2. go to 1800contacts.com or call 1800 contacts [Worlds Largest Contact Lens Store!] this is a very trusted site too. 3. get acuvue! (its the best) now you type in or tell them your diameter and presciption and it is going to be much cheaper than getting them at the docs. the same thing for a cheaper price. hope i helped. good luck oh yeah, and contacts have many risks so be sure to know how to care for them ***
- Simply me was simply wrong about a couple of items. 1. Acuvue does not make any monthly lenses. 2. 1-800-Contacts is not always cheaper than your doctor. At my practice, there are a few lenses we do not try to compete with internet companies on price. However, we price most lenses by going on their web site and seeing what they charge. We will sell you as little as one box with no shipping charges. We will replace defective lenses with trial lenses with no hassle. Some doctors do overcharge for contacts but more and more have policies similar to mine.
- Dailies are definitely the most expensive way to go with disposable contact lenses. $1 a day is sort of accurate, if you only wear a lens in one eye. It's more like $1.50 - $1.75 a day. Even the online stores charge over $600 for a year's supply. I love dailies and if price were no object I'd urge most contact wearers to use them. The convenience and cleanliness are wonderful. My favorite is the Proclear 1 Day, which I find to be more comfortable than the AV 1 Day Moist, and it's less expensive. They're a little different in that they're what's called an aspheric lens, which may or may not work for you. There's also the Soflens Dailies and the Focus Dailies. I liked the Soflens and was uncomfortable in the Focus, but fit and comfort are individual things.
- Guess what - the monthly wear and daily disposable contacts are exactly the same. If you don't believe me, buy a pair of monthly wear and save the packaging. Then in a month, switch to the daily disposables. If you look at the packaging you will find out they are exactly the same.
