  1. You have poor punctuation. Let's not get high and mighty.
  2. YOU FORGOT ONE:When are they going to learn HOW TO SPELL????Have you seen some of the questions/answers;that's a double WOW!!!!
  3. Yes, as an American I too am distressed, disturbed, and disgusted at some of the Q's here. Either through sheer lazyness or idiocy, its a disturbing state of affairs in this nation.
  4. Yes, you're right. It is a shame what people know and remember. When I taught Social Studies many, many years ago, I quizzed my students as to was their mayor, who was the governor, etc. Many of their parents didn't know the information, but their children did. People pick and chose what they want to remember and what is important to them. Unfortunately, many remember the pop culture stuff. We are bombarded with that stuff everyday. Many won't watch the evening news- too sad, too boring, too dull. We come across as very ignorant in terms of civics and government.
  5. I don't mind if Americans are mindless idiots, because I'm not an American. In fact, I kind of relish it.
  6. we pay way more attention to fun upbeat things unlike politics and that stuff but we do do that some times as well but if it is fun upbeat and stuff it just sticks in our heads.
  7. when teachers unions are abolished.
  8. I dont think this problem is confined to america. People dont know their own history yet they know all the actors in a movie and the lyrics to the latest songs and can sing all the annoying ads on TV.
  9. Well history is not always accurate, it just depends on who is telling the story and what the story is. A good example of this is the historical accounts of Columbus Day. Places of interest change from person to person. My son always says "Mom what you like and what I like are 2 different things." and he is right about that.
