Can I wear daily contacts while "swimming"?
Every Monday evening I go swimming with my mates and we play like basketball rugby in the shallow end. I don't know whether to wear my contact lenses (daily disposables) though because without them I can't see who is on my team and although I have prescription goggles no-one wears goggles. We mainly stay above the water only when there is the odd hard tackle. So far I have been taking them out but then once we have finished we watch skins and I would like to be able to see the tv. What do you think I should do.

- Sure, but I live with the goggles!!! Can't see a thing without contacts and can't see a thing underwater either!

- If you were my patient I'd say yes but remove them and throw them away as soon as you get out of the pool- in the changing rooms- don't wait until you get home! This is because the chlorine in pool water can make your eyes sore and there is a lot of bacteria at a pool so taking the lenses out will minimise your risk of infection. Hope that helps!
- Ak your optician. Mine has always told me no swimming with lenses in. I often wear my glasses when doing water aerobics or can't u wear ur glasses to watch tv? (IIf u don't have any glasses it is advisable to have some especially because u could get an eye infection and have to have a break from lenses)
- I have talked to a corneal specialist and he said to never wear them because a lot of the bacteria..yes even in the chlorine water can get to your eyes through contacts...I think it's better not to wear them...don't risk your health
- I am effectively blind without my contacts in and have worn them numerous times whilst in the water, but much to my dismay I find they are easily dislodged or lost by even the slightest splash to the face unless my eyes are closed. Goggles are the cheapest answer although not always practical. I'm considering laser treatment, with apprehension! Anyone got personal/professional advice?
- Yes, if u use dailies lenses.
- i wear contacts all the time, and my optician told me i could wear my contacts in the water if i took them out as soon as i got out the pool. it's not worth it if you're careless and damage your eyes
- Wear them in the water yes, but remove them as soon as u get out.
