Dailies Contact Lenses

Taking out daily disposable contacts and wearing them next day?

So I would like to save some money, and wondering if anyone has tried taking out daily lenses, especially the Daysoft brand ones, which are really inexpensive, putting them in solution and wearing them, if so how many uses can you comfortably get out of them?

  1. you can use them for 4 or 5 times or even for a week. But there are chances of amoebic infection. So better avoid reusing them.
  2. The answer to your question is in the word comfortable. Obviously you must be as conscientious as possible about sterile procedure to avoid all infections. Barring that, you can keep reusing them until they feel uncomfortable. I have found from years of wearing lenses that sometimes I can keep a lens in for months without removing it, other times I change it in a week or less. As long as the lens feels comfortable in my eye I leave it alone. The daily lenses are thinner for better oxygenation and comfort and are cheaper per lens, but they also tend to stretch and distort easier than the longer wear lenses, so you won't get as many reuses. But then the point of using daily lenses is to have an affordable way to replace them everyday, and not mess with cleaning and disinfecting.
  3. I don't advise it at all. They're called "daily disposables" for a reason. The materials are not made to withstand wearing them longer than one day. If your lenses are really inexpensive as you say, then just go buy more. It's not worth the cost of medical bills if you damage your eye from over-wearing your lenses. Take care
  4. Although daily lenses were not designed to be re-used over and over again, you may try them for a few days and nothing dramatic will happen. The only thing you really risk is to develop some discomfort as a result of the lipids, proteins and minerals that may accumulate on your lens after several days of wear. Once these elements have infiltrated your lenses you will notice that they are less comfortable and dry. At that point you will have to change them.
