Is it normal that my contact lens is larger than my than cornea? I don't feel any discomfort and I use Acuvue Oasys for astigmatism.

- Yep I have same thing.
- Yes it is for soft contact lenes. I've been wearing contacts for years and its normal. For hard contact lens its smaller or the same size as your cornea. As long as you don't feel as discomfort and see perfectly fine than it shouldn't be a problem, however just to make sure bring it up with your doctor.
- Yes, it's very common. That's how I can tell when actors in movies are wearing contact lenses. I can see the edges of their contact lenses extending beyond their corneas when there are close up shots of their faces.
- That's the way that soft contact lenses are fit, and making them larger than your cornea helps to promote stability of the lens on your eye, as well as ensuring that there is a large enough area in the center of the lens that provides clear vision (there can be some distortion near the edge of the lens). Hard lenses are another story entirely. Most are smaller than the cornea, but some are so large they even cover most of the white of the eye (the sclera) as well.
- yes.
- No lenses can be larger than your cornea. It is your iris, ( the colored part ) you are talking about, not the cornea. Yes, soft lenses are always larger than the iris. Your cornea is the whole front, clear surface of the eye.
