Dailies Contact Lenses

How do I improve my contact lens comfort?

My contact lens do pretty good for about 4-5 hours, then they become uncomfortable. My eyes feel real tired & heavy with slightly blurred vision. Sometimes I also get a severe headache & nausea. I was told by the eye doctor that my eyes are dry. I use re-wetting drops, but it doesn't seem to help much. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  1. use saline
  2. You may just have to change contacts. Not all contacts are created equal, and some are just more comfortable than others.
  3. you use cheap contacts? then try more expensive ones.
  4. i would get a second opinion....since he has no recommendations ....i have heard of other lenses that are for dry eyes....hydra or something... you should take your lenses out and clean them with saline to rehydrate them....
  5. If you are wearing contacts that have an edge when it comes to dry eyes--ProClear with PC technology, or silicone hydrogel lenses--then I would say that you do indeed have a problem. If you aren't wearing these types of lenses that excel in dry eyes, then you should try them. They have helped many people continue to wear contacts that had many problems with traditional hydrogel contacts, such as you describe. Also, Blink brand re-wetting drops are amazing. They have a special ingredient, hyaluronate, that has been used in ocular surgery for years, but is new to contact lens drops. Hyaluronate has a unique molecular structure that traps water on the eye while your eyes are open, but then allows the water free reign to flow over your eye when you blink. They really do help with dry eyes and last for hours. Highly recommended...!
  6. Maybe u should try out the silicone lenses range. They are great
  7. If you are experiencing excessive dryness, and drops aren't helping, try changing your contact solution. I used to have a lot of dryness too...the drops helped, but only for a little while. So I tried 2 different solutions that are made to moisturize your contacts, and help them retain moisture while you wear them. I have used both the Alcon Opti-Free RepleniSH, and the CibaVision Aquify. Both work really well, so well that I don't hardly have to use my drops at all anymore. The Aquify seems to work just a little better for me than the Opti-Free RepleniSH. Try one of those solutions, and see if it helps you out. If it doesn't, go back and talk to your eye doctor; he may want to change you to another brand or type of contacts, like the Acuvue Oasys, or another type that helps your eyes stay more moist.
