If I get laser eye surgery can I still wear my glasses?
I love my glasses,or I love the frames. They are who I am, I don't like the way I look without them, but I am considering laser eye surgery since I had my son. I would love to have the choice to take the glasses off, especially when swimming as he loves the water but I hate not being able to see him. So does anyone know if I could keep my frames but get plain glass fitted to them, so I'd have the eye surgery and still wear glasses with no prescription.

- Lots of people wear glasses as an accessory. But it sounds a little ridiculous to get eye surgery just so that you can wear fake glasses. Use contacts or goggles when you swim...
- yes you get blank lenses, they use them in the films
- yup, eyeglasses as accessories are everywhere. even kids wear them and doesn't hurt a bit. so should be ok to wear one laser or not. could even help after the surgery as it should filter out wind gusts and dust a bit, right?
- You could get laser surgery and have your glasses retrofitted with "plano" (no power lenses), but, it seems like you are spending a lot of money to not have to wear glasses, and then, wearing glasses! It might be a lot cheaper for you to just get prescription swimming goggles or get contacts and wear regular swimming goggles over them when in the water. If you do decide to get the operation, I suggest you find out all you can about the proficiency of the doctor and the possible consequences if things don't go just right and see if it is still worth the risk.
- how pointless! Why don't you just get some prescription swimming goggles, a lot less painful and less risky than laser surgery!
