Can you people please find another word for "Gay"?

it really pisses me off when people use the word gay as a substitute for words such as, stupid, weird or gross. i used to say it in elementary school because i got caught up with the slang that people used around me. only a year or two ago, i stopped to think about what i was really saying saying. the real meaning of gay is being happy or being a homosexual. how does it make any sense if i used it to describe something stupid? so from that day i tried using other words instead of gay... it was a lil tricky at first but you get the hang of it. please, i know some of you have incorporated the word gay into your daily vocabulary and some of you might not even realize how often you say it..i understand. but it really doesnt make sense to describe something stupid as "gay"... it is offensive and plus, it makes YOU seem stupid with the lack in your vocabulary. does anyone feel the same way? to JC, yea i know what you mean. there a re a lot of people i know who arent against gay people and use it. it's hard for them to get it out of their vocabulary.

  1. I agree. It does sound kind of degrading to our own personalities. I will try not to use it from now on :). I'm serious, too.
  2. Well... If the shoe fits...
  3. Yes, thank you!
  4. Yeah, my sister uses it like that. I can understand people around here saying the word 'queer' to mean strange, as that's its original meaning, and they use a lot of old dialect words here (plus they don't use the word 'queer' to refer to homosexuals), but gay seems to pretty much universally mean 'homosexual' nowadays. All I can say for my sister is that she isn't against homosexuals, she doesn't intend it in an offensive way, it's just something she picked up. But I wish she'd get out of the habit because some people will take offence to it.
  5. mkay... Wow thats heterosexual. hahaha i say that when my friends say something is gay.
  6. I agree, it may not be intended to be offensive but, c'mon! there are plenty of other words in the English language, use one that wont offend anyone!
