Is there a government agency that I could contact regarding an unprofessional boss and his VERY BAD conduct?

I have a friend that works for a business that does fire and flood damage reapir on homes and businesses. Her boss is a real piece of work. 1. He loves to cuss his employees out on a daily basis. (His favorite word is the "F' word!) 2. He rarely allows any breaks at all, much less a full 30 minute lunch break. This friend of mine walked out today after he called her a "F#$%ing IDIOT" about 5 times, and as she was leaving, he was chasing her out of the parking lot, beating on her windows, telling her what a "piece of sh!t" he thought she was. She said this has been going on for MONTHS and everyone is scared of this monster. She is the second employee to leave the company this week for the same reason. Who can she contact to complain about this? We didn't know if it would be the LRB or who? She has called the company's corporate office but it's a franchise and they could really care less!

  1. Go to your county labor department and file a grievance. After this they can file suit against his former employer wages due to them leaving their job. If a manager is abusive it is classified as a "Hostile" work environment. The tricky thing is finding a lawyer to take the case without putting up much money for them.
  2. If she documented the conversation with the corporate office she could sue the entire company for harrassment. Have her talk to a labor attorney regarding this.
  3. All the employees should find a lawyer that works on contingency and SUE his butt! I say that because the only other option is some kind of toothless inept Labor Dept...
  4. First report him to the Better Business Bureau, then report him to the LRB, then call the corporate offices of the company and politely but sternly tell them that if something isn't done within (give them a deadline (1 working week is good)) that you will be contacting your local TV station's investigative reporter and you will be contacting an attorney to start proceedings against the man for harassment and creating a hostile work environment. Make sure you document everything, get witness statements, and if he has any illegals working for him you could call your local immigration office and report him. Just make sure you document everything and don't get hostile or lose your temper with anyone, you want to be the one that is in control....
