The people of Biafra were the former people of Eastern Nigeria, or Eastern region of Nigeria. Their population is about 40million. Their major language is Igbo, which itself is a major ethnic group of about 30million people, of the 40 million people of Biafra. Biafrans are being killed daily and marginalised by the Nigerian forces made up of the northern Nigeria Hausa ethnic group who are moslems, a ethnic group that has monopolised the Nigerian government, and whose language is Hausa. Nigeria evaded and fought a war with Biafra 1967-1970 (when the later declared itself an independent nation) killing about 3,000,000 Biafrans, and defeated them, forcing them back into the country of Nigeria. Biafra has ever since wanted to be on their own as an independent state in the spirit of self-determination. Nigeria has always refused. Why is Nigeria behaving this way? And what should the people of Biafra do to be independent?
