Is the immigration forum here on YA an outlet for your silence out in the real world?
Or do you do and say the same things as you do here in your daily life.
Public Comments
- Yep, I believe in what I believe in ,no matter where I am!
- i do more. i'm more face to face here. i'd rather not go into details
- I am never silent, quiet but always the same.
- I am not shy about discussing immigration in public but i do not push the subject. I will not pass up an opportunity to talk about it like I will about things like sports or a new movie. I would say the same things in the real world as I do in the cyber world.
- I am the same in real life as I am on here. I say the same thing; in fact, I pretty much like it when people know where I stand. More so in real life than on here.
- I do and say the same things - both here and in my daily surroundings. You'd be surprised on how many others agree with me, yet had feared saying anything out loud. Mostly because people wouldn't view them as PC. In fact I had to correct our local news guy who was reporting on immigration in the news. I pointed out to him that it is the Hispanic and Latino groups who were claiming that our immigration laws were targeting them. My correction also included that when most of us talk of the immigration subject on here - we are and were speaking of all illegals within the country. To please remind those complaining that one race being targeted - was not true. That illegals were not a race.
- Nope... I'm WAY more vocal about it in my every day life.
- This is pretty much it. I live in Mexico and no one here that I know cares about immigration. where I live people are pretty happy about being here, other than a few that have been kicked out Of the USA and one guy who's entire family had their throat's cut and he came back because of it. He doesn't plan to return.
- its not big deal in real life for me, i do have a life.
- I am the same person on line and off. There is no excuse for a lot of the ugliness that goes on in here. There is a decent respectful way to say everything, even if the people around you do not agree. Barry---that is not fair to assume just because a person speaks Spanish they do not belong here. I am white and was born here and Speak Spanish. Do I need to leave the country?
- to me immigration is the most important subject next to the war in the upcoming election... i work with a lot of people that to me are questionable but with the privacy laws private employers are having a hard time looking into anything without getting into a heap of trouble... im not scared to talk to anyone, including the illegal population in my area, about immigration because it is such an important issue and i can see both sides of the line but in the end im Always American and i will stand for whats best for the people of my country....
- No. I use the phrase, "Thanks for speaking English. " on a regular basis all over the country, and real down to earth Americans stop and nod. More of us need to verbalize, and get this under control before the vocal minority gets their way....again. I talk this issue up a lot in public, because it will not go away on its' own. I refuse to speak mexican, and that is what it is, bastardized spanish, I was taught the difference by a brilliant Spanish lady...BIG difference.
- Let see. When I have a little bitty stick and I'm surrounded by 10 smelly illegal aliens I know when to keep my mouth shut. But. I was chastised by my council woman with my wordage as to illegals having another darn Tacqueria and Supermarket come into town and allowing them to convert their garages into apartments, to pay their sub-prime mortgages.(which was caused by them in the first place) I'd say yes. othrwise.......I pick my venue's.....(smile) but I'm not a coward......just have some common sense.
- Nope ! I wear my U.S. Border Patrol cap all the time in public . I also had a tee shirt designed that is printed in Spanish , and basically says`, "If you can read this you`re in the wrong country " ! Never ashamed of standing up for my country and its` laws ! God Bless America !
- EDIT: I was told by Washington insider that if everyone would write and call their senator and reps and raise he** about whatever, that they have a person that marks down the hot topics and then they respond. So I suggest we can bit** between us, but to make a difference and let them know on a constant basis what you feel. See it is working, the senator stated that "now we know the American people want us to secure the borders" and that has only taken from 9/11 till now. NOW how long before they do it. Even Sen. McCain has stated they will need to remove the 2 million illeal criminals in the country, but he didn't say when, maybe when the Saints win the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 i have never seen so many 'best answers" in a lonnnnnnnnnnnng time. I am sure many don't voice it and probably don't because 'birds of a feather flock together". It is sad that U.S. Senators and one in particular who went along with the original plan would say he knew they understood the American people and they wanted the borders secure and that's right the other two nipping for votes could give a rats a** about the country. this may bite them all in the end as they don't understand, living in the lap of luxury that the criminals of all illegals congregate where THEY WILL BLEND IN and thus avoid apprehension better and thus again the minorities of America take the brunt of the crime, just as the middle nd lower class take the brunt of most everything. I think it is disgusting and want to ask you if you know where I can buy some canned fruit that's not imported form another country, mainly China, I worry that if they kill our pets and have no regard for our children, that they might do the same with the products we allow them to put on our grocery store shelf. Although they are common big name brand products. Wonder why CNN did a job on Obama and Romney and what closed door deals have been made. At least the rebate program will include "everyone' the demoncrats want in it, even if they are illegally here from all parts of the world. Take care and watch your bad.
- I talked down to an illegal immigrant in the middle of a party during a beerpong game and embarrassed the crap out of him, and told him his parents have no business being here. Speak for yourself.
- In adherence to my convictions, I'm kind of forced to swim through a pond of honey...every time I deal with this issue in public. Sure, I can dart across that pond in cases where the offenses are blatant. But, given that this nauseating "loyalty" to their home countries is obviously driven by nothing more than propaganda-taken-literally, I get this uneasy certainty that what's driving them to distrust us is the same machine that drives us to distrust them, one another, and our govt. The detriment to the U.S. is immeasurable. I know that because I remember the U.S. as it was only 20 years ago before all this interjected-culture's friction began. Today, nothing is the same -- and it is CERTAINLY not keeping up with the more humbly-driven, less-compromised nations like Korea, Sweden, Germany, Taiwan, Japan and so on. We're clearly being provoked to splintering compromise. We, the U.S., citizens thinking independently, are ill-equipped to overcome the divisiveness designed to vulcanize us into an irrational, logic - almost as it's our duty to "stop the evil" of the other party. Forgive me if this simple truth unsettles you, but: We are all the same "party". The barriers to achieving and maintaining our most basic philosophical and governmental hopes are NOT those we've been misled to perceive as the opposition - aka: the other party... ie: conservatives against liberals and liberals against conservatives. Those barriers are: misinformation, divisive showmanship, manipulation. So, then, If I remain less-than-vocal in public, it's because the public (Jefferson's foundation of support for indefinite democracy) has become the "'Well-Tuned Clavier." Think about it. Let's break out. ...
