Is it safe to wear Daily Contact Lenses overnight/for more than a day?
I wear Johnson & Johnson Focus Dailies

- I don't wear contacts but I know this girl who wore hers for a couple days and her eyes actually grew over them, like she could not take them out. She had to have painful and expensive surgery to get them out. I definitely would not recommend wearing them even for one night. I am sure the box gives you some warnings though.
- no this is very dangerous because as you sleep your eyes roll in the back of your head and your lenses can get stuck in the back of your eye and your lenses will induce your eye to grow over the lenses because contacs dont let the cornea breath. and... your can get an infection and you can lose your sight forever so take em out
- its dangerous i say wear them 5 days a weekat most wear glasses the other 2 dysat least dont sleep with them your eyes need to breathe my doctor says its the size of the breathing holes but dont take a chance ...they say day nigh but if not dont
- I suggest you follow the recommendations of your opthamoligist.
- It is not a recommended thing to do, but if you do accidentally sleep in them you should still be ok. I have friends who have accidentally slept in daily lenses and were ok. I wear an extended wear lens that is technically safe to sleep in, but I prefer removing it before sleeping.
- supposably, your only suppose to have them in for 8 hours and then take them out but wth...i doubt anyone does that. but yeah...i think it would be a better idea to take them out before you go to bed.
- no u shouldnt do that it can be really dangerous... it prevents oxygen to the eye and can cause infection... they are called dailies for a reason. Your optomotrist can usually tell if you have been wearing them for longer than you should, and if this happens they should stop providing you with contact lenses.
- I wouldn't say it was particularly unsafe, but it may get very uncomfortable. The contacts dry up throughout the day, which is why you're only meant to wear the for a few hours. Once they've dried up, your eyes get a bit sore. Mine usually fall out once they're dry or curl up in my eye. Everytime I've fallen asleep in mine, they've rolled back in my eye, but there has never been a problem with infection or vision. As long as they don't dry up too quickly then there shouldn't be a problem leaving them in. Just use eye drops or put the liquid that the contacts come in on your contact. Should prevent dryness.
- Focus Dailies are cheap. There's no need to over wear them. If you wear them for more than one day, you risk a very painful infection. It's not worth it. Put in new Focus Dalies each morning and you won't have to wonder if you're damaging the only pair of eyes you have. Good luck.
