Do you think I could afford a horse?

I would be boarding at a stable about 10 minutes from my house for $400 a month (includes daily turn out/stall/feed/hay). I've looked into the boarding and such, but I don't have a lot of info on Vet/Farr. Care. How much a year does that all cost? Also, when/if I buy my horse I will have a part-boarder. A friend of mine riding 2 times a week for $150 a month and I make about $500 a month all going toward caring for my horse. Also my parents are helping me out by chipping in $100 every month. So I would have about $700 a month going toward the horse aprox. The plan is I would pay for boarding, tack/blankets/ect. and my parents would pay for routine vet and farreir care. If the horse needed any additional vet care/ferrier care I would pay for that too. I want to have a Jar (or bank account) and keep $3000 dollars in it AT ALL TIMES just incase anything ever went wrong + any extra money at the end of the month would always go into the jar With all that would I be able to manage?

1. maybe becuz a horse needs a lot of stuff and you have to have lots of room and buy food for it and its gonna cost a lot wait til you get more money and like you said your parents are giving you 100$ so wait til they give you enough that you can buy it with their money :)

You could probally manage, but you have to think outside the box. if your going to be riding this horse you will need a saddle, and a bridle and the stuff to clean the tack with, plus buying treats, hay, and vitamins. Anyway, if this horse happens to hurt itself or something you will have enough money to at least buy vet wraps. You are going to need alot more money to pay for the farrier, the vet bills, teeth trimming, etc. And, let's say your horse gets rain rot, you will have to buy MTG and Listerine to put on it and that price can keep rackin up too. Well I hope you have good luck with your new horse and i hope that you do well. I had a rocky start when I got my first horse too. It will all work out in the end.
