Dailies Contact Lenses

Daily disposable or continuous wear contact lenses?

I don't know which to get, I had the monthly ones that you have to clean, but I wasn't too keen on them. I want either the daily ones so I don't need to clean them, or the continuous wear ones so I can just forget about them, but as I haven't tried either of these, I don't know which would be best. I'm inclined to go with the continuous wear ones because they are a bit cheaper...

  1. I use to wear the continuous wear, but you literally have only as long as they say to wear them whether is a week or two weeks. Then I have trouble with them. I switched to the daily disposables when they came out....I will wear a pair for 3-4 days and a 3 months supply may last me six or 8 months, but if I lose one or tear one, no worries, I have plenty more. It works for me and my eyes are really healthy. A doctor probably wouldn't tell you to do this, but they also want to see you more often and sell you more lenses.
  2. I currently use dailies and I adore them! I used to use monthly ones but I got sick and tired of cleaning them every night and with the dailies you can put them in and then just throw them out when you are done!
  3. I wear daily contact lenses mainly because I used to work for an optician and he advised it is healthy for the eye to get oxygen to it for some part of the day or night wearing continuous ones doesnt allow you to do this and you may find you get very bad red eye. You know when all the little blood vessels make you look like you are hung-over. This isnt attractive and will make your eyes tired and sore. If continuous is going to be easier for you make sure you have a day or two wearing glasses so your eyes get a break.
  4. I wear continuous wear lenses ( thiry days, thrirty nights ) and have done so for about six years now - not the same pair obviously! They are great because you can sleep in them and not worry about waking up with really sore eyes - all i do if they feel a bit dry is pop some refresh eye drops in or some saline solution just to wet them again. I find with work, a hec tic social life and a child it's far to easy to drop off for 5 minustes kip so it's great not to have to panic about your lenses. I do have a change now and again when i go away and i wear daily coloured disposables because i don't like flying with my lenses in as they tend to dryout too much. Your optician should be able to give you a trial of both to see how you get on Good luck!!
