Is it safe to use contact lens solution that has passed the expiration date?

We have some contact lens solution that has passed the expiration date. Is it safe to use or do we need to throw it out? Thanks and God bless, leofa

1. In my perspective no due to the fact that the solution can possibly have some sort of chemical that expires on the date of expiration. Hope that helps!! :)
2. To my knowledge contact lens solution is largely salt water, so I would say you're probably okay if you're within, say, 6 months of the expiration date. If it's more than that I would throw it out just to be safe.
